Forensic science in the 1960s
The Claire Josephs murder was solved using forensic science and police suspected that the killer was a family friend because it looked like someone was dropping by. They know this because there was no sigh of forced entry and a half empty coffie cup on the table.claire was making dinner when an acquaintance Roger Payne went to the house and had a prior criminal record for attacks on women. Claire Josephs had been wearing a cerise woolen dress on the day of her murder. Payne's clothing contained over 60 cerise wool fibers matching Josephs' dress. Investigators then examined Payne's car and found traces of blood matching Josephs' blood type, as well as additional clothing fibers because of this evidence Payne was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Pane had sliced open her throat and put woulds on her hands then left her under the bed.
