Alec Jeffreys is a British geneticist, who developed techniques for DNA fingerprinting and DNA profiling which are now used worldwide in forensic science to assist police detective work and to resolve paternity and immigration disputes. In 1987, and they gave him 2 cases to slove. He had help from other towns to test peoples DNA and came out with 4,582 men with the same blood type as the killer.Only one man didnt want to give blood and was suspicous and had a picture of the victom. He also paid for someone else to take his blood test and a peson over heard him and told the police. So they took him into custody and tested his blood and it was a perfect match. Pitchfork became the first person in the world to be identified, captured and successfully prosecuted as a result of DNA evidence.
